The objectives of Lean Green can be achieved using the D.O.W.N.T.I.M.E. acronym used in waste management methodology.

“What is D.O.W.N.T.I.M.E.?” 

D.O.W.N.T.I.M.E. is an acronym used in Lean and waste management methodologies for the identification of inefficiencies and wastes, enabling their elimination through process optimisation and waste management. Each letter in the acronym represents a different type of waste, guiding us to reduce or eliminate each specific waste type. 

Example of D.O.W.N.T.I.M.E:

Defects: Multiple reworks of presentation decks due to unmet requirements. 

Overproduction: Printing more than the required number of copies for official documents.  

Waiting: Delay in approval post submission, exceeding the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA). 

Non-utilised talent: Talent misalignment between capability, roles and responsibilities. 

Transport: Unnecessary transporting of documents between different locations that may lead to delay, potential damage and increase cost. 

Inventory: Storing large quantity of office supplies, that are not used regularly e.g. A1 paper rolls, letterheads, stationeries. 

Motion: Physical check-in meetings that require attendees from multiple region (Kerteh, Putrajaya, Kompleks Dayabumi) that incur unnecessary motion cost. 

Extra-processing: Unnecessary reviews and excessive syndications for approvals which may not be required but due to legacy practice.
