Putrajaya Holdings partners Sunway Healthcare to develop advanced medical centre
KUALA LUMPUR (April 23): Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd, the master developer of Putrajaya, is partnering with Sunway Healthcare Holdings Sdn Bhd, the healthcare arm of conglomerate Sunway Bhd (KL:SUNWAY), to develop a multi-speciality tertiary medical centre in Putrajaya.
In a joint press statement Wednesday, the two companies said they have signed a heads of agreement to jointly develop the integrated private medical centre in Precinct 7, Putrajaya.
“With this collaboration, Putrajaya Holdings and Sunway Healthcare are setting their sights on more than just a hospital — we aim to build a modern and high-quality integrated healthcare ecosystem,” the statement read.
Precinct 7 was chosen as the location due to its strategic position and accessibility, being in close proximity to Putrajaya Sentral and major healthcare institutions such as Putrajaya Hospital, Institut Kanser Negara and the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (Akademi Perubatan Malaysia).
The first component of the medical centre is expected to house a tertiary hospital with over 300 beds. The facility will provide advanced medical services and specialist care, including a burns unit, catering to residents of Putrajaya, the wider Southern Klang Valley and international patients.
“Putrajaya Holdings, as the master developer, offers a lifestyle oasis with our state-of-the-art infrastructure, numerous facilities and extensive green spaces. Establishing a healthcare ecosystem is another step towards creating a more holistic quality of life, where everything you need is right here in Putrajaya,” said Putrajaya Holdings chief executive officer Datuk Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim.
Strategically located next to Putrajaya Holdings’ upcoming commercial development — Destina Putrajaya, which is slated to open in November 2025 — the medical centre will benefit from seamless connectivity throughout Putrajaya and modern public transportation links, the companies said.
Destina Putrajaya, Putrajaya’s latest transportation-oriented development, is designed to seamlessly integrate residential, commercial and lifestyle components with direct access to public transport, promoting connectivity, sustainability and urban convenience.
“We are excited to partner with Putrajaya Holdings to build a medical centre in our nation’s administrative capital, enabling the Putrajaya community and beyond to access comprehensive and quality private healthcare,” said Datuk Lau Beng Long, president of Sunway Health Group.
“We will strive to provide excellent facilities and compassionate, patient-centred medical care,” he added.
